Service Description

CLASS DESCRIPTON: In this 5-week ASL course, kids will be introduced to American Sign Language through fun and immersive learning! Class starts with fingerspelling and learning the alphabet and numbers. Then learners will study how to form and respond to questions, learn basic vocabulary: including colors, emotions, seasons and holidays, family members, animals, personal and physical characteristics, school & summer signs, days of the week and months of the year, be introduced to cities, states, countries and continents, and more! OUT OF CLASS WORK: Learning in this course is stress-free. Students sign along with the instructor and interact with fun class exercises and games, which will reinforce learning. Homework for classes will be minimal, if at all (it's summer! =D ). Students may have to work on developing sentences for a next class if there is a game to be played which requires the practice, but most likely, there will be no work outside of class time. However, students must interact in the class to be eligible to receive a certificate of completion for the course. SUPPLIES: Handouts may be provided (via classroom post) for students throughout the duration of the course. TIME COMMITMENT: 45 minutes to 1 hour per week in class, and maybe some practice time outside of class.
