No! Anyone can take classes.

Our Foundational Courses follow a progressive 12-week beginner course, taking you from introductory knowledge to more advanced levels within the beginner phase. Each level (Explorer, Adventurer, Trailblazer) is a 4-week course designed to build conversational skills through an immersion approach, integrating vocabulary, grammar, and essential Deaf culture topics. The ASL Explorer is the initial stage for individuals with no prior experience in ASL. It is perfect if you just want to explore sign language or start small and get your feet wet. This is an introductory course meant to be a first step into American Sign Language learning. The ASL Adventurer is the next step, where signers start forming basic communication using the vocabulary and grammar learned in the previous course or previous knowledge. The ASL Trailblazer Signers in this course will begin to gain some independence in communication but are still considered beginners. This course includes a certificate of completion (for 12-weeks of study) - a must for any serious ASL learner. If you start out taking a Foundational course, you can transfer your course to the Master ASL level at any time or add on a Specialized Course (which will appear on your certificate).

Most of our online ASL courses do not require you to purchase any additional material. The tuition for ASLTI Online Courses is comprehensive and entirely online; nothing else needs to be purchased to complete them.

Yes! Most courses are based on face-to-face interaction with a personal tutor in a virtually immersive environment. Any classes without hands-on interaction will be clearly indicated.

Deaf meetups exist across the nation. Often a google search is helpful to find an event nearby.

Absolutely! You may transfer your online course at any time by contacting us with your interest.

You may access your certificate after you have completed all of the components of your course. Your certificate will be delivered electronically via the email on record. It is possible to download and print your certificate as a pdf.
